MENARA Alor Setar (Alor Star Tower) is located in the city of Alor Setar. The word “Alor Star” are the combination of two word which is “Alor” and “Setar”. Alor means the water stream and Setar came from a tree named Setar which is categories in the group of Kundang Tree with the scientific name “Bouea macropylla”. in December 21st 2003 the spelling Alor Setar has been changed to Alor Star in conjunction with the declaration of Alor Star City.



The Alor Star Tower is a communication tower is in the 19th place in rank of world’s record and was the 2nd highest in Malaysia. The design of the head of the tower is the symbol of Kedah as the ‘rice bowl’ that produce paddy and rice. The height of the tower is 165.5 meters and the highest building in the city of Alor Star. It was built by Telekom Malaysia as a communication tower and a tourism center with the cost about RM40 million.
