Location : Perak, Malaysia
ABOUT 20 minutes by ferry from Lumut Jetty lies Pulau Pangkor, Perak’s popular ‘Island in the Sun’. The picturesque island was under the Dutch rule in the 17th century during the tin trading days. It later came under the British, marking the first step towards British control over the Peninsular.

The eastern part of the island is occupied by fisherfolk who live in Pangkor Town. Sights include Sungai Pinang Kecil, a fishing settlement, Fu Lin Kung Chinese Temple, Sri Pathirakaliaman, a Hindu temple, Batu Bersurat (Sacred Rock), Kota Belanda (Dutch Fort), Forest Reserve and a Mosque.
Pulau Pangkor’s nicest beahes are on its western coastline. This has attracted the development of a good range of hotel accommondation, chalets and A-huts. Among them are Pantai Puteri Dewi, Belanga Bay, Tanjung Teluk Batok, Teluk Nipah, Teluk Ketapang and Pasir Bongak.
